Fostering Review

Question:

Hi, We are fairly new foster parents and have our first review coming up with social workers to look at the progress and needs of our foster child and family. Any suggestions as to how we should approach this? Padraig

Response:

Padraig, If you have been keeping a journal of the child’s behaviors after bio-visits, therapy, etc, you would want to highlight both positive and negative.  For example, if a child acts out after a visit with a parent, how long does it take to calm the child?  What method is used?  What methods have been tried and not worked? How well does the child interact with your family? How about with other children? School? Do you have any concerns to address?  Where do you think this child needs to continue to grow?  How will that be acheived?   You know this child as he/she has been living in your home.  The most important thing to do at reviews is partcipate.  Don’t hold back, if you have questions or concerns ask.  Discuss service plan goals, etc.   Mari

Yes Be honest, with your self. And good luck, it is some time’s sad but most times it is great. Ray Padraig O’Morain wrote in message <1103_924215…@pomorain.iol.ie>… >Hi, >We are fairly new foster parents and have our first review coming up with
