Ontario We’ve been lurking. . . as we try and decide if we can do this. We want to, but we both work. We have two teenagers from my previous marriage (18 & almost 16), but have a lot of room in our home and especially our hearts for more. How does fostering work with both parents working? Hi, I did it for two years, I was single and worked full time. I was very lucky as I had a flexible salaried position with a boss who supported me as a foster parent. The hardest part was covering the daycare. Your stipend does not go very far where the daycare is concerned, but I always managed. Interestingly, our company only allowed sick leave for natural or step children, so when the foster kids were sick I was forced to use my vacation time. I rallied the CEO one day when he commented on how cool it was that I was a foster parent and he worked to have the policy changed, then he donated some of his vacation to me to cover the time I had used with my foster kids. Good luck… Erin

Hi, I am in Great Falls, for MT that makes us neighbors. I was at Lake Chelan WA on May 18, 1990 when the great Mt. St. Helans blew her majestic top to smithereens!!! Erin

We both work too. We take in mostly teenagers so daycare is not an issue for us. However, the few times we did have younger children, their daycare bill was paid by the state and did not come out of what we receive. You need to check how its done in your area. We do everything with the fosters that we did with our naturals (someone please come up with other terminology, I hate fpster amd natural) We do not treat them any differently. If you worked when your children were at home, I don’t see why you can’t when your extra kids are are home. Vanna
